There have been a lot of exciting changes in the roles and responsibilities of the Bromley Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) over the last year. Many of these changes have impacted our training programme. As a result the BSCB has had to make changes in the way its training programme operates.
The administration and the day-to-day operation of the BSCB training programme is now with the Education Development Centre (EDC). This means all inquiries into courses and application forms will go to the EDC. Confirmation letters and relevant paperwork will come from the EDC as well.
In line with Working Together to Safeguard Children 2006 the BSCB will retain responsibility for Quality Assuring the training programme and ensuring the courses are meeting the safeguarding needs of those working and volunteering within Bromley. The BSCB also will continue to organize to annual conference.
The Bromley Safeguarding Children Board expects all agencies to provide basic single-agency, in-house training for staff that come into contact or work directly with children and families. This not only helps to equip staff with the basics for recognising and responding to child welfare concerns, but also enables staff to access and maximise the learning derived from the BSCB multi-agency training. Following the completion of a single-agency training the next step is to complete one of the Safeguarding Children a Shared Responsibility Group A, B, OR C courses. After the Group A, B, OR C course there are a range of in-depth specialist courses available.
In addition to one day and two day trainings the BSCB offers a number of Safeguarding Forum briefing sessions. These run for an hour and a half on various topics.
Look out for the BSCB Annual Conference to be held in June this year.
