Learning and Improvement role of BSCP

One of the core functions of a Local Safeguarding Children Partnership is to implement local and national learning including from serious child safeguarding incidents.

In Bromley, learning is promoted and embedded in a way that local services for children and families can become more reflective and implement changes to practice. We want all our professionals and organisations protecting children to reflect on the quality of their service and learn from their practice and that of others.

We learn through reviews, audits, listening to our staff, families, children and young people, reviewing complaints and compliments, and analysing performance data.

Our published safeguarding arrangements set out our statutory safeguarding partners' commitment to keeping an independent chair who has 'right to roam' and challenge. We value independent scrutiny and don't believe in 'marking our own homework'. Our independent chair provides assurance in judging the effectiveness of our multi-agency arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of the children of Bromley. He promotes reflection to drive continuous improvement.
