Welcome to the Bromley Safeguarding Children Board (BSCB) website. The main responsibilities of the BSCB, set out in Section 14 of the Children Act 2004, are to co-ordinate and quality assure safeguarding children arrangements and activities of its constituent agencies.
The BSCB brings representatives from key partner agencies together to develop, monitor and review safeguarding procedures and practice within Bromley.
Its main objectives are to promote good practice and working together in safeguarding to: • protect children from maltreatment • prevent impairment of children’s health or development • promote the provision of safe and effective care
The BSCB Main Board meets twice a year to promote good practice and effective governance and provides opportunities for agencies to hold each other to account in safeguarding children.
The BSCB Executive Committee meets four times a year to set the strategic direction and safeguarding priorities reflecting both national and local priorities. At present these include:
Monitoring the impact of early intervention services and arrangements
Launching and promoting the changes to the referral system into children’s social care.
Developing and promoting guidance to help protect young people from gangs.
Ensuring that government changes to multi-agency child protection are communicated.
Offering on-line child protection training for some groups with London Borough of Bromley.
Working with Health to support their drive to train all front-line staff in safeguarding to Level 3.
Developing more multi-agency approaches to support children living with domestic abuse.
